A Rangers
Way Home

About The Book
Harlan Gates, was drafted in May of 1968, faced experiences in the Vietnam War that he would carry for the rest of his life. A Ranger’s Way Home follows his journey through punishing military training, the brutal realities of combat, and the hidden wounds borne by so many veterans long after the fighting ends.
This book is not for the faint of heart. Harlan pulls back the curtain on the harsh and often unseen realities soldiers endured—only to return home to a country divided, angry, and politically charged. Carrying not only the pain of war but also the weight of a nation that often failed to honor his sacrifice, Harlan struggled to find his footing in a world that had moved on without him.
Haunted yet determined, he began a lifelong search for hope beyond the battlefield. That search led to a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ—where he found freedom from addiction, healing from brokenness, and a new purpose that reshaped the trajectory of his life.
This is the powerful story of a soldier who survived war—and found his true “Way” home.
